The 30th Ulsan Whale Festival is Ulsan's representative cultural and tourism festival, hosted by Nam-gu, Ulsan Metropolitan City, and organized by the Whale Culture Foundation. Set against the backdrop of the history of Jangsaengpo—once a center of whaling—transforming into an eco-city where whales and humans coexist, the festival is being held under the theme "Invitation from the Whale, 30th Birthday Party!" and the slogan "Whales to Be Together" to mark its 30th anniversary in 2026. The festival will take place for four days from October 15 (Thu) to October 18 (Sun), 2026, in the Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Special Zone. Key event spaces include the Whale Theater (main stage), Shrimp Plaza, Whale Experience Plaza, Busking Zone, and a Flea Market Zone exclusively for small business owners. To ensure convenient access for visitors, a transfer-type welcome gate will be operated in the area around Taehwagang Station Plaza. During the festival, various signature programs will be held, including the opening and closing ceremonies, a special fireworks show, themed performances, a 300-person citizen mass choir, and a whale parade. In addition, a diverse range of cultural experiences and competitions will take place for all generations to participate in, such as the Whale Country Kids Festa, Challenge! Whale Rider Challenge, Wish Whale Project, AR and responsive media experiences (Whale's Dream AI Zone), Whale Family Dancing Star, and Family Singing Contest. Furthermore, the 30th anniversary archive exhibition 'Time of Whales,' a food zone (Whale Table), a whale flea market, and affiliated tourist facilities (Whale Sea Travel Ship, Whale Ecology Experience Center, Jangsaengpo Culture Warehouse, etc.) will be operated to provide visitors with a variety of sights and entertainment.
