2026 Gyeongju Golden Carnival

The 2026 Gyeongju Golden Carnival is a festival planned to fill the old downtown with new energy by boldly removing the main stage centered at Bonghwangdae and utilizing closed movie theaters and various vacant spaces in the downtown commercial district under the concept of "OFF THE STAGE." It eliminates a single massive stage and creates multiple small live spaces. It is a festival designed so that the audience does not "arrive" at the venue, but rather "discovers" the performances. The five minutes between performances, the cafes and restaurants visited by chance, and even other audience members encountered in the alleys become part of the festival, with "the old downtown becoming a performance venue the moment you linger." Local F&B is not merely a side event, but a mechanism that orchestrates the rhythm between performances. Through a cycle of listening to music, eating, walking, and listening again, the audience experiences a new way to utilize Gyeongju's original downtown. Pointing to the moment when old theaters, empty shops, and familiar alleys passed by meet music and shine again, and when the vibrancy of Hwangnidan-gil connects with the time of Geumridan-gil, another path linking the past and the present is created in Gyeongju.
