In the late 15th century, the sea routes of the Age of Discovery, undertaken in search of spices, became conduits transporting not only the mysterious tea leaves of the East but also the exquisite Greek aesthetics that held them to Europe. Painters of the time began to capture the vibrant warmth flowing within warm teacups and the moments of happy teatime on canvas with dazzling colors. This exhibition goes beyond the landscapes of the canvas, offering a special experience of encountering the actual teapots and teacups held by the protagonists in these paintings.
