Jeonju Reading Festival

The 9th Jeonju Reading Festival is Jeonju City's representative book festival, held under the slogans and themes of "Jeonju, a City That Reads and Writes" and "Run, Books!" This event will take place for three days, from Friday, September 11 to Sunday, September 13, 2026, in the areas surrounding the Jeonju Hanbyeok Cultural Center and the Wanpanbon Cultural Center. Key features include enhanced content tailored to different generations to create a festival that everyone can enjoy together, and the establishment of an eco-friendly festival model in preparation for climate change. Major programs include an opening ceremony, invited lectures, and fusion Korean traditional music performances at the Hanbyeok Cultural Center performance hall. Competitions such as the "Family Reading Golden Bell," in which families can participate directly, are prepared in the exhibition hall. Additionally, energetic performances by children, Taekwondo demonstrations, and Madang Changgeuk will unfold at the outdoor performance venue, while lectures by local authors, book discussions, seminars, and reading-related workshops are organized in the seminar rooms of the Hyanggyo Cultural Center to offer in-depth cultural experiences. In addition, a book market featuring various bookstores and publishers and diverse experience booths will be set up in the Jeonjucheondong-ro area, while citizen participation exhibitions and a special exhibition for the Jeonju Reading Festival will be held in the outdoor plaza, providing citizens with a wealth of things to see and enjoy.
