"Dalseong 100 Pianos" has established itself as a representative regional cultural content and a unique event of its kind nationwide. Held at Samunjin Ferry Terminal in Dalseong-gun, Daeguโthe historic site where Korea's first piano was introducedโ"Dalseong 100 Pianos" is Korea's premier piano music festival. The piano, which arrived at Samunjin in March 1900 via American missionary Sidebottom, was such an unfamiliar Western instrument to the residents at the time that they referred to it as a "ghost box." However, the history of music that began with a single piano has evolved over 100 years into a magnificent stage where 100 pianos perform together. The festival, which began in 2012 as "Dalseong Baeknyeon Majung," became "Dalseong Baeknyeon Maji" in 2013. To this day, it encompasses diverse genres ranging from classical to jazz, pop, and popular music, delivering new musical inspiration every year. In particular, performances set against the backdrop of the beautiful Nakdong River and the historic scenery of Samunjin offer a special experience where music, nature, and history harmonize. Dalseong 100 Pianos carries on the history of Korean music, which began with a single piano, into today's music, and is transforming Samunjin into a special musical space where culture and art come alive.
