Chilgok Nakdong River Peace Festival

The Chilgok Nakdong River Peace Festival is a celebration designed to commemorate the historical significance of the Battle of the Nakdong River, which served as the final line of defense during the Korean War, and to reflect on the spirit of patriotism. It operates various programs to remember the value of the Republic of Korea, which was defended by ordinary people risking their lives in 1950, and to express gratitude to those who defended the country. For the thirteenth festival held in 2026, performances, participatory experiences, and food programs centered on the theme of peace have been prepared. Furthermore, under the slogan "Farewell, Nakdong River, the Boys Who Defended the River," the festival has further strengthened its historical and peaceful message by planning programs to raise awareness of the young boy soldiers who have been relatively overlooked in the narrative of student soldiers—who are highlighted as symbols of patriotism—and to honor their spirits.
