About
Daemyung Ggogi is a cheap barbecue joint in the Sinchon university district, where the draw is marinated pork belly rather than premium cuts. The two house versions are doenjang samgyeopsal, marinated in soybean paste, and gochujang samgyeopsal, marinated in red chili paste, both of which caramelize on the tabletop grill. The room is loud and plain, with round metal tables and a crowd of students. Doenjang jjigae or a bowl of cold naengmyeon is the usual thing to order alongside the pork.
