Gukje Market in Busan is one of Korea's most energetic traditional markets, born out of the Korean War era when refugees set up stalls to survive. Today it sprawls across several streets in Jung-gu, selling everything from clothing to household goods, but the food stalls are the real draw. Look for ssiat hotteok β a Busan specialty filled with seeds, brown sugar, and vegetables β along with eomuk (fish cakes), tteokbokki, and grilled skewers. It pairs perfectly with a visit to nearby Biff Square.
