Woo Lae Oak is one of Seoul's most historic restaurants, founded in 1946 by a family from Pyongyang who brought their traditional cold noodle recipes south. The restaurant is renowned for mul naengmyeon β thin buckwheat noodles served in an icy, lightly tangy beef broth β and bibim naengmyeon, the spicy dry version tossed in gochujang sauce. Located in Jung-gu, Woo Lae Oak has fed generations of Seoulites and remains a defining stop on any serious food tour of the city.
