About this event

The 16th Gwangju Biennale, titled *You Must Change Your Life*, which opens on September 5, 2026, takes its title from the final line of a poem published by Rainer Maria Rilke in 1908. The speaker in the poem experiences a reversal of their way of viewing the world the moment they confront a broken ancient statue. As perspectives and positions shift, we realize that we can no longer continue living as we did before. I must change.
