About this event

The Semiwon Water Lily Festival is a representative autumn garden culture festival held at Semiwon, located in Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. Semiwon is a garden of water and flowers surrounded on three sides by Paldang Lake; it is Gyeonggi-do’s first regional garden, featuring traditional Eastern garden styles and a diverse array of aquatic plants. The festival centers around water lilies, Semiwon’s representative aquatic plant, and offers distinctive autumn garden attractions. It showcases a unique garden landscape where a variety of water lilies and aquatic plants harmonize, including the Victoria water lily, known as the "Queen of Flowers," as well as exotic Australian water lilies and colorful tropical water lilies. Visitors can admire the beauty of water lilies blooming on the water's surface and enjoy a relaxing break within the city. Furthermore, Semiwon is set to present even richer garden culture content as the host city for the 2026 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo. The Semiwon area is a place steeped in the history of the pontoon bridge of Jeong Yak-yong, a scholar of practical learning from the late Joseon Dynasty. It is equipped with various facilities such as the Lotus Museum, Jangdokdae Fountain, Sehanjeong, and the pontoon bridge, serving as a complex cultural space where nature, ecology, and culture and arts harmonize, as well as a four-season garden tourist destination.
