About this event
The 2026 Jikji Cultural Festival is a celebration designed to popularize the value of 'Jikji,' which is inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register, and to shed new light on its significance as a symbol of innovation in human printing technology and knowledge sharing. Under the theme "Jikji, Opening the Door of Time," the festival commemorates September 4th—the date of its inscription—and is organized to allow citizens and tourists to share in the historical value and cultural significance of Jikji. Through exhibitions, hands-on activities, performances, and lectures that everyone can view, enjoy, and linger in, the festival is structured to enable a more accessible and engaging encounter with Jikji, and to allow visitors to experience the value of a living, breathing record culture within the flow of time.

1. Official Events: Opening Ceremony, UNESCO Jikji Prize Ceremony, Celebratory Performance 2. Exhibitions: Special Exhibition of Records Before Paper, Exhibition of Jikji Reprints and Digital Book Jikji, Exhibition of Jikji Korean Translations, Winners of the "Publish One Book Per Person" Contest, Exhibition of Press Releases Related to Metal Type Printing, Exhibition of Geumdang Night View, Museum Permanent Exhibition 3. Hands-on Events: Operation of a citizen-participatory content media wall, Jikji and Metal Type Printing themed escape room game, Demonstration of Eastern and Western Metal Type Printing, Stationery Experience with Artisans, Jikji Golden Bell Contest, "My Own AI Calligraphy" Experience, Making "Lanterns of the Light of My Heart," Singing Bowl, Pagoda Pilgrimage Experience, etc. 4. Performances (Lectures): Jikji-related Cosplay Contest, Jikji Concert (Lecture + Singer Performance), Citizen Content Contest and Busking Performances, Jikji-related Performance Works, etc. 5. Side Events: Flea Market, Food Trucks, Promotional Booths, Photo Zones (Trick Art, etc.), Jikji Promotional Fam Tour for Diplomatic Missions in Korea, etc.
