About this event

The 2026 Yangju National Heritage Night Tour is a nighttime national heritage festival held in the area surrounding the Yangju Government Office Site under the theme of "Returning to the Joy of Officials and the People." Set against the backdrop of Yangju-mok during the Joseon Dynasty, the festival revives the spirit of "Gwanmin Dongrak"—where commoners and officials mingled and enjoyed themselves together—and connects Yangju's preserved history and national heritage through performances, experiences, exhibitions, and nightscapes. The festival features a diverse range of content, including performances and experiences where visitors can encounter Yangju's representative intangible heritage—such as Yangju Byeolsandae Nori, Yangju Sonori Gut, Yangju Deulnorae, and Yangju Sangyeo and Hoedaji Sori—in one place; historical programs based on King Jeongjo and Yangju-mok; a reenactment of the civil service examination; traditional culture experiences; night tours; media exhibitions; and traditional teahouses and marketplaces. A key feature is that visitors go beyond mere viewing of Yangju's national heritage; they actively become characters within the stories to participate and collectively complete the meaning of "Gwanmin Dongrak." As you stroll through the night in Yangju-mok following the 8 Night programs—Night Scenery, Night Walk, Night Storytelling, Night History, Night Painting, Night Food, Night Stay, and Night Market—the history, people, and traditional culture of Yangju intertwine into a single story amidst the beautiful night scenery. It is a special night where the past and present meet, a festival where you can fully enjoy Yangju’s unique national heritage and elegance.
